What is in it
Niacinamide
Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3, and it is one of the few skincare actives that suits nearly everyone. It supports the skin barrier, moderates oil production, and gradually reduces the look of dark marks by slowing pigment transfer to the surface cells. Because it is not an acid and not a retinoid, it rarely stings, and it can sit alongside almost anything else in a routine. Results on tone are gradual — think eight to twelve weeks, not days. Tranexamic acid
Among brightening ingredients, tranexamic acid is the one most often recommended for melasma specifically. It targets the communication that triggers pigment production rather than bleaching what is already there, so the change is gradual and the result holds better. It pairs naturally with niacinamide, which blocks a different step in the same process.
What to use it with
A moisturiser works best over something it can lock in, so it belongs after a serum rather than instead of one. Where it fits in your routine
A moisturiser is the last skincare step at night and the second-to-last in the morning, with sunscreen going over it. Its job is partly to hydrate and mostly to seal — it locks down the water and the actives applied beneath it, which is why even oily skin does better with one than without. Apply it to slightly damp skin and you will need noticeably less product.
Before you start
