What is in it
Tranexamic acid
Tranexamic acid began as a medicine for heavy bleeding and turned out, unexpectedly, to work on stubborn pigmentation. It interrupts the signalling between skin cells and the cells that produce pigment, which is why it helps with melasma and sun-driven patches that resist other treatments. It is slow — two to three months of daily use before a fair judgement — and it works considerably better alongside strict sun protection than without it. Glutathione
Glutathione is an antioxidant the body produces itself, and it is heavily marketed for skin tone across South and East Asia. The topical evidence is thin but not absent — it appears to interfere with pigment production in a similar way to other tyrosinase inhibitors. The evidence for oral supplements is weaker still, and the injectable form is genuinely unsafe and unapproved. Applied to skin, it is a reasonable mild brightener and no more than that.
